Guess: Leopard releases October 27

Apple and its fellow Developer Connection Premium members are pretty big at it. They are testing the latest Leopard seeds for mistakes, bugs, and crashes. Over the last few weeks, Apple has seeded new builds more quickly to developers and testers, which usually is a sign that the system nears its completion.

If I am right, the releases will grow ever more frequent at this point, developers should receive ever more Leopard DVDs in their physical inboxes or look out for new images. Lets assume for a moment this is true, then Apple is pretty close to the wrap-up of Leopard, making it ready for the shelves and the community out there. Long enough we have waited.

Most likely the seeds frequency will increase, and thus, Leopard will reach Golden Master soon. After that, it takes about three weeks for packaging and shipping, so I’d say we are not too far off that. Maybe one or more two seeds, which then should be identical to the retail version.

Provided this assumption is correct, then I believe that Leopard will make it into the shelves on October 27. This is a Friday, which is usual for a Mac OS release. We’ll see if I win this bet.
