No U.F.O., it’s a banana. Seriously.

When I first read this, I actually believed I have gone totally mad. I went away from my screen, came back, reloaded the page, and it still said it:

Artist will send 300 meter banana 50km above the Earth

Some totally de-railed (sorry) guy is actually constructing this 300 meter long banana, and is supposed to launch in August ’08. It will be visible from the ground of Texas, and be there for about a month. It will be clearly visible throughout day and night and will be recognizable as a banana. Inside it’s filled with helium. It’ll float on the geostationary orbit of Earth. Also: from Earth, it’ll have a visible size of 15-20% of the moon.

Texas. Home to home-grown, super-uber-dimensional sized bananas, that float above the Earth!

Dear Aliens. We know we are not the brightest people in the galaxy. Forgive us for trying to fool you with super-sized artificial earthly fruits. Bananas usually don’t float in space you see.
