propellerhead_reason_logo.jpgIt’s official. On Friday, the super-brains over at Propellerheads have released their next version of one of the most successful music composition tools ever made: Reason.

The 4.0 versioned tool raises the bar of music creation and manipulation once again. The capabilities of the new tool are virtually endless, you’re only stopped at the limit of your CPU. Now, take an Intel Core Duo at 2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, a good sound card (100 Euro or better), and you’ve got an impressive music making machine at your hands. More and more, with Reason, studios become obsolete.

The power of Thor compels you!

The devices that have been added, are:

Thor
Quite frankly, it’s the synth to end all synths. The new device (screenshot above) offers new variable filters, new oscillators, as well as a new pattern sequencer for your sound. All in all this device unlocks true Godlike abilities to manipulate sound in a way that has never been done before. The power of Thor compels you.

RPG-8
This device is a Monophonic Arpeggiator. It turns your boring chords into pretty cool melodies, also has some new features like the pattern sequencer, amongst other things. It adds value to your music like never before.

ReGroove
Added to the line of “Re” titled tools (ReWire, ReCycle), comes ReGroove. This uber-cool is the exact right thing if you want to let people believe that whatever you have created in reason is done live, at a party or something. It allows you to set certain loose yet tight feels to your rythm. Absolutely genius! Since all music is still man-made, and no one is perfect, the music also cannot be quite perfect. This tool does the right thing and “de-perfects” the sequence of your groove, giving it the feel of having it performed live. Every time the track is played.

Reason 4.0 has shipped worldwide on Friday, and is available to download or physical shipment from Propellerheads which is based in Sweden. Reason has become the music composition standard and its creations or oftentimes used for further professional music processing in real studios and is also very often used by popular groups and artists.
