Some German managers in the office have a serious issue

Which is why I’m glad to have the boss I have, and that I live in Ireland. However there’s a good friend of mine, I know her for a very long while now. She lives in Germany. Cute girl, and hot if you ask me =) . Anyways, something is happening to her, something not nice. Medical thing. You see, a while ago she told me that there is something growing in her head, MAYBE a tumor. If it is one, it’s a good one. It is apparently a very rare condition, and she has tried to see a doctor about it. Had to wait for four weeks, today is the appointment.

So she goes to her manager. Asks him if she could go earlier – a week ago. He said it would not be a problem. However, today she comes to him and reminds him of the appointment. Apparently he didn’t know what kind of doc she’s going to. There would be some sort of course or whatever, he would go there – and suddenly:

He won’t let her go. LOL WUT?!

She calls the doc if she could come in later, but the doc says no. So, she already with her nerves on the limit, starts crying – in front of him. Her colleagues notice too. He then – and only THEN – gave in and let her go.

He argues that the probability for this to happen would be as high as getting hit by a falling satellite. Well first of all satellites don’t fall out of the sky and hit you, they disintegrate in the atmosphere. Second of all, probability is irrelevant – she has something pretty important to be addressed, all right?!

So if you gonna read this, you better let her go the next time or people will start a mutiny against you. That is not the right way to deal with your employees. It already made it to a blog, mister. Gonna submit to digg.com! Like that? No? Well. Not my problem. If you had a tumor, you probably also can’t let yourself go earlier, because that is your policy – right?! Well, good luck. I don’t know what your problem is, but you need some serious help.

It’s called People and Management Skills. There are courses for that. But you probably can’t let yourself go there. Like you can’t let people leave to see a doctor. All right then…
