Code Geass, the movie: "Sons Of Liberty"

tl;dr -
It’s not a real movie. I just post my idea of who could be in the movie. The pictures should suffice if you don’t want to read about details or why I chose them.

Before you jump out of your chair in all excitement, it’s not real. It’s just another post of mine where I speculate who should be in a movie. I’ve done it with Madlax and El Cazador de la Bruja as well, if you come here from time to time, you might remember those posts. I kind of tried to find lookalikes for the characters, but also people of which I believe fit the character well.

You may disagree on my choices… Code Geass is one of the most popular animes around. So if you think I should re-cast someone, please let me know in the comments.

So. Let’s roll.

Formerly known as Lelouch Lamperouge, he experienced a drastic turn of events in his life once he was given a Geass. In his case, the Geass allows to make people just about anything he wants them to do. He used that power to strategically manipulate people and to crush the Britannian stronghold the former country of Japan is in. He took on a second identity, “Zero”, to free Japan. As Zero, he formed a movement known as the Black Knights. To my mind, Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible series, Collateral) would suit him pretty well. He can portray twisted people pretty well – mostly so like he did in Collateral. I think he’d be a good Zero.

Lelouch’s brother, Suzaku, however, was on the other side of things. He was within the ranks of the Britannian military and as such, had no choice as to oppose Lelouch and his plans. As time passed, he eventually switches sides a couple of times, but ultimately ends up helping Lelouch/Zero. Christian Bale (Equilibrium, The Dark Knight) is the perfect Suzaku. As we have seen, Bale can be pretty bad-ass and might perform a live-action Spinzaku (based on what I’ve seen in Equilibrium, of course). Apart from that he’d suit him perfectly well. Bale and Cruise fighting? Yeah I like that.

Formerly using the last name “Stadtfeld”, Kallen ultimately ended up rejecting her Britannian roots and joined the forces of the Black Knights and supporting Zero – thus using her real Japanese name Kouzuki. She becomes a valuable asset to Zero, as she is the best Knightmare pilot the world has to offer. Of course Zero uses that wisely in his battles. What Zero didn’t account for is that she eventually developed feelings for him. Zero finds out eventually, and it all escalates the situation to a new level. Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man series) would probably be the best Kallen on-screen. She looks closest to Red Lotus. I think she’d also portray Kallen’s personality pretty well.

Whether or not she likes her Britannian roots remains unclear. Shirley was a quiet, but cheerful personality, and a student at the Ashford University. She had a pretty obvious crush on Lelouch – but whenever a situation arose where she was close to him, or wanted to say something, it became clear that she also is a very shy personality in those matters. She became a very vital element to the story once a Geass was bestowed on her, which later was reversed – making her remember everything that was surpressed. She was last seen in a very moving scene. Jennifer Aniston (Friends sitcom, several movies) is probably a good match for her. She’d portray Shirley so nicely. Imagine her looking away when she wants to say something to Lelouch =D She should be Shirley, really.

Lelouch’s sister, Nunnally. For Lelouch, it all began with a single thought: make the world a better place to live in for his blind sister, who on top of it is bound to a wheelchair. Lelouch believed that the military stronghold that the Britannian Empire is upholding, is making the world a pretty bad place for her. Having gotten a Geass, Lelouch believed her situation can be helped. However Nunnally herself became a vital element when she learned how far Lelouch has fallen, how twisted his mind has gotten. When she became Empress, things turned dramatically. As she was able to defeat her Geass. Emma Watson (Harry Potter‘s Hermoine Granger) is the perfect match for Lelouch’s sister. She’d be doing a perfect job of portraying her on the big screen, even her hair has the right length.

Many have speculated about her real name. Only once C.C. involuntarily reveals it to Lelouch in her sleep. C.C. is an immortal witch as such, and is the one who gave Lelouch the Geass – under one condition. Lelouch has to grant her one wish. Lelouch bound that contract – and so they stuck together. Eventually becoming a high-ranking member of the Black Knights with no official designation, C.C. was along for the ride. Her inclusion in the movement was met with criticism, but proved useful. Like Kallen, she involuntarily developed feelings for Lelouch – but apparently Lelouch didn’t like that so much. Ultimately she becomes a vital part to the whole story and can even be seen praying for him. To my mind, Elisha Cuthbert (24‘s Kimberly Bauer) would probably do a good job of portraying her on the screen. Her hair has to be a bit longer and green.

Employed by the Britannian military was Nina Einstein. She was the computer expert and geek. She developed a new kind of weapon technology, similar to a nuclear warhead – but without fallout. The bomb is called FLEIA – and can be detonated anywhere, it’s explosion radius can vary. While at first convinced of Britannia’s goals, she was eventually appalled by it and considered switching sides. I don’t think there’s much else of a choice here than Mary Lynn Rajskub (24‘s Chloe O’Brien, CTU’s IT specialist). She’d be the PERFECT Nina. Imagine a phone call between her and Lelouch: “Nina, I don’t have time for games – give me the codes for the FLEIA… NOW!” =D

Well and there’s one more we need to include in this.

He started it. He started the invasion of the former Japan, decided to take the country’s freedoms, rights, and culture, and on top of it, rename it Area 11. But to top things off, after he learned of Lelouch’s intentions, he disowned him – ultimately cutting off the family and replacing his last name “Vi Britannia” with a new one, “Lamperouge”. Should go without saying that you too, would be pretty angry about it. That cascaded into Lelouch wanting a better place for Nunnally, he couldn’t bear to see her living in that kind of world. Donald Sutherland is the perfect Charles, I think. There’s no one else better suited for the job than him. He even has the same body shape (no offense intended), and a voice that’s really perfect for him.

And having that said, I think that concludes the casting. Except for a few more things I think are important.

You would really pick Crazy Cruise for Lelouch

    Wouldn’t Keanu Reeves be better

    1. SystemError51 says:

Maybe… I think maybe Cruise is good because he can portray twisted people

  2. Resender says:

He would be fine if he could do the same acting level as in the last samurai, but ever since he joined the Scientology sect (There classified as a dangerous sect in Belgium) his acting isn’t that perfect.
And Lelouch isn’t twisted just really good ad manipulating people to do his bidding.

(OH and I’m now in possession of every Batman cartoon made between 1977 and 2008, including my 3 faves: Batman the animated series, Batman Beyond and The Batman)

wouldn’t it be much better if you put younger people in the role? I mean Lelouch was 17 in the anime…i agree with you, Emma fits nunnally best
