About SE51

SE51 or System Error 51, is the self-chosen Internet handle of Marcus McKay who owns this blog.

In his professional career he has been working for a handful of Fortune 500 companies. These include Xerox, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, as well as DoubleClick which was later purchased by Google.

He spends his spare time mostly on projects of his own design. He believes that he can create beauty with a computer and as such has been working on a couple of projects, one of which gained quick popularity through LifeHacker. The project he is currently mostly spending his spare time on is his own operating system, named “MarcOS”.

Apart from his interest in computers, Marcus is categorizes himself as a hobby scientist, particularly in the astrophysics area. He is also affectionate about archeology, particularly pre-astronautics. He has on occasion blogged about pre-astronautic issues and paranormal phenomena on this page.

Another interest of his are Japanese animated TV shows and movies, otherwise known to the western world as anime. He began watching anime shows almost two years ago and has become a huge fan of the Japanese way of story-telling. He believes that these shows supersede most mainstream shows that can be seen on normal TV and has substituted normal television in favor of animes.

He has been a great fan of Apple software and hardware since Mac OS 9 and PowerPC Macs, and actively using them for about five years. In the process he has learned about the internals of Mac OS X and has developed smaller programs with it.

In recent times Marcus has discovered an interest in handy work and as such has attempted a few small-scale lifehacks such as improving monitors or room decorations.

He is currently employed by Hewlett Packard and is working in a support capacity for Microsoft’s cloud computing service offerings.
